Atlas Hydraulics expands to larger facility

Atlas Hydraulics Inc., a manufacturing and assembly company for OEM hose and tube parts, will relocate to a larger Greenville facility to accommodate for growth.

“We need more space in order to operate for our expanding customer base,” Plant Manager Troy Collins said. “We picked up a lot of new orders going into the new year.”

D&W acquires Midwest manufacturer

Fountain Inn-based D&W Fine Pack said Tuesday it bought the thermoforming division of Clear Lam Packaging Inc. of Elk Grove Village, Ill.

This is the latest of several recent acquisitions for the Fountain Inn-based supplier of food packaging. In the past year, D&W has acquired Jet Plastica Industries of Pennsylvania and California, CM Packaging Group of Illinois and Tri-City Packaging Ltd. of Canada.

USC Upstate to lease more space at University Center of Greenville

The University of South Carolina Upstate plans to lease more space in the University Center of Greenville and continue its search of a future Greenville site for when it reaches capacity at the center.

USC Upstate received unanimous Greenville City Council approval March 19 of a resolution enabling them to locate an educational facility in the city.

US Fibers expanding S.C. facility

US Fibers announced today plans to invest $5.5 million and expand its polyester recycling operations in Edgefield County, creating 48 new jobs.

A recycler of polyethylene terephthalate post-industrial and post-consumer material, US Fibers said the project at its Trenton facility will allow the company to increase capacity. The project is expected to be finished in the fourth quarter.

ZF sees growth in North American market

ZF’s North American sales grew by 46% in 2011, and by another 46% in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter in 2011.

The automotive supplier recently built a new transmissions facility in Laurens County. ZF reported $15.5 billion in 2011 sales worldwide, a 20% increase over 2010 and a company record. Two-thirds of these sales were achieved in the U.S.

Anderson outdoor business to expand

First Federal gets Upstate footprint

First Financial Holdings Inc. stepped foot into the Upstate market Friday with the acquisition of Plantation Federal Bank, which operates in Greenville as First Savers Bank.

First Savers and Plantation Federal, both of which were owned by Plantation Financial Corp. of Myrtle Beach, were closed and sold Friday by federal regulators to First Financial Holdings of Charleston.

Greenville firm consolidating headquarters, adding 40 jobs

The safety engineering and automation solutions provider aeSolutions said today it will consolidate multiple Upstate facilities into one corporate headquarters in Greenville, according to an announcement from the S.C. Department of Commerce and Greenville Area Development Corp.

The consolidation is expected to create 40 jobs and a $2 million investment. The Greenville company currently employees 140 people.

The vacancy rate was down over the previous quarter, with net absorption totaling positive 219,027 square feet in the first quarter. Vacant sublease space remained unchanged in the quarter, ending at 42,949 square feet.

Greenville ranks No. 9 for growth in U.S.

Greenville is ranked ninth nationwide as one of the fastest growing U.S. cities, according to CNNMoney.

From 2000 to 2010, Greenville grew by 32.5% to a population of 400,492. Ten U.S. cities managed to have population gains of more than 30% during that time, according to Census Bureau data analyzed by CNNMoney.
