The $8 million facility will be anchored by MD360, an urgent-care center operated by Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center. This will be the fourth MD360 for GHS, joining locations in Greenville, Greer and Simpsonville.
The Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, Proaxis Therapy and specialty surgeons from GHS will also have space at the Medical Center of Powdersville.
Baptist Easley is a joint venture of GHS and Palmetto Health of Columbia.
“For 10 years we have had plans to expand our health care services in Powdersville,” said Roddey E. Gettys III, CEO of Baptist Easley. “I am glad that we can build this complex now which will afford easy access to health care for local citizens.”
Diagnostic x-ray and laboratory services will be on site, as well as a 16-slice CT scanner, with additional shell space for future diagnostic equipment. Additionally, the complex will house a community room to host health education events and provide space for community use.
“This venture enhances the collaboration between Palmetto Health and GHS as partners in health care in Pickens County,” said Greg Rusnak, of the Baptist Easley board of directors. “Additionally, GHS and Baptist Easley each bring significant expertise and resources to this project.”
Paul Cook, director of facilities at Baptist Easley, is the project manager for the 34-acre site. Gregory T. Jones of JMD Architects Inc., in collaboration with Batson Architects Inc., both of Greenville, designed the center. Triangle Construction, also of Greenville, is the general contractor. The projected timeline for completion is January 2013.
